Google Business Profile suspended? Stop editing and do this first

A suspended Google Business Profile needs a clean policy check, matching evidence, and one careful appeal—not frantic edits or a duplicate profile.

Google Business Profile suspended? Stop editing and do this first

Do not make ten changes in a panic

A Google Business Profile suspension can shut off a major source of calls, so the urge to start changing everything is understandable. Resist it. First record the exact message, affected account, profile ID, current business information, and any recent edits. Take screenshots. Find out whether the profile itself or the managing Google account is restricted.

Do not create a replacement profile. Google explicitly says not to create another profile for the same business while an appeal is under review. A duplicate can split ownership, reviews, and history while giving support another mess to untangle. One real business needs one correct profile for that location.

Compare the profile to the real business

Check the name against registration, signage, invoices, and the website. Remove keyword additions that are not part of the real-world name. Confirm the phone and website belong to this business. Confirm the primary category describes what the company actually does.

Then inspect the location setup. A service-area business that travels to customers and does not receive them at its address should hide that address. A virtual office is not an eligible location unless it meets Google’s staffing and customer-facing requirements. If the profile shows a storefront, the business should actually operate there with permanent signage and staff during stated hours.

Gather evidence before opening the form

Google lists official registration, business licenses, tax certificates, and utility bills such as phone, internet, water, or electricity as useful appeal evidence. The names and addresses on those documents should match the profile being appealed. A pile of documents with three variations of the company name creates doubt instead of clearing it.

Organize the strongest files before starting the evidence step. Google says the evidence form must be submitted within 60 minutes after it is opened or the evidence will not attach to the appeal. This is not the time to begin searching an email inbox for a utility statement.

Submit one clean appeal

Use the Google Business Profile appeals tool while signed into the account connected to the profile. Read the reason and linked policy. Correct genuine inaccuracies before submitting. Add a short explanation that identifies the business, states what was corrected, and points to the matching evidence.

Do not write an angry essay about competitors who are getting away with worse behavior. They may be violating policy too, but their profiles do not prove yours is eligible. The appeal needs to show that this company is real, correctly represented, and compliant now. Keep the explanation factual and easy to verify.

Track the appeal and protect the account

The appeals tool shows whether the request is submitted, approved, not approved, ineligible, or eligible for appeal. Save confirmation emails and a copy of the evidence. If a request is denied, Google may allow an additional review with new evidence that was not included the first time.

After reinstatement, limit profile access to people who need it, document ownership, and stop risky experiments with names and locations. A profile connected to years of reviews is a business asset. Treat edits to the name, address, category, and ownership with the same care you would use changing the phone system or domain.
