How to measure whether Google Maps is bringing good jobs, not just calls
A busy phone can still mean bad marketing. Track the service, location, answer rate, estimate, and job value behind each Google Maps call.
Call clicks are a starting point
Google Business Profile Performance shows views, searches, calls, website clicks, and other actions. A call in this report means a customer clicked the call button. It does not tell you whether anyone answered, whether the caller was in your service area, or whether the job fit the business.
Use a five-column job log
For each new lead, capture the source, service requested, town, outcome, and approximate job value. The outcome can stay simple: missed, declined, estimate booked, lost, or won. Add a reason when you decline a call, such as outside area, wrong service, no capacity, or price shopper.
Read the profile and the job log together
Look at the profile each month, then compare its actions with booked estimates and completed work. Google can show which search terms surfaced the profile. Your job log tells you whether those terms brought the right people.
